Phillips wins back to back SPEC MIATA races at TWS! John Phillips III originally joined the Wheels America Spec Miata Series for more track time - & guess what? He is leading the series with the addition of two more wins this weekend. Saturdays race was tough.
"The #24 car had the pole & did his best to hold me off. I watched & waited - I knew where he was weak so I patiently waited for the right moment to take him. I think we put on a great show for the workers & spectators".
Phillips had the pole for the Sunday race & lead all laps, from flag to flag.
"The #24 car was always there - their miscalculation with fuel let me breath easy at the end".
Car owner O J Young, team drivers Mike Crothers & Greg Messler all had a great weekend, each setting their own personal best times. Crothers started 10th and finished 6th. This rookie is coming along fast. He was right there with all the top guys & held his own.
